Knowledgent Informationist, Gerard Dwan, will be speaking at the Boston Data Festival happening September 22-24 at Microsoft N.E.R.D Center. The fourth annual Boston Data Festival’s primary goal is to bring together the data-centric community for an energetic week of events at which to learn, collaborate, and network. Gerard’s session titled, “Knowledge > Information,” will be taking place on Friday, September 23rd during Big Data Day.
This talk will discuss how information is everywhere. Now more than ever, people and organizations are collecting, sending, sharing, and analyzing data in the hopes to provide context (and advice) for action. There is, however, still a need for human intervention. When companies need to drive decisions to change corporate strategy, pivot to a new market, or hire new staff, they need to do so with data AND an understanding of their business. Gerard’s session will reveal why people are an essential part of the data process and why Knowledge is greater than Information alone.
